Local business chamber going from strength to strength

Eleven years on and the Northern Illawarra Business Chamber has gone from strength to strength. Formed by a small enthusiastic group of five local business owners, the organisation has a local business membership base of over 60 members from Helensburgh to Bulli.

2007 will see the Chamber’s main focus being to further increase value to its members, and with the release of their first electronic newsletter, the NICC Chamber Blast, they have the facility to better communicate the new range of incentives and opportunities.
Also this yea,r the Chamber has established a special member based Strategy Focus Group to review the results and recommendations of a 2002 local government survey titled “A Plan for Business in the Northern Illawarra” and use the findings to identify strategies that could be applied in 2007 to assist their members grow their business.

Members are now benefiting from initiatives such as access to cross promotional facilities, free seminars and workshops and extended advertising exposure through several mediums.

Additionally, the Focus Group is currently exploring the possibilities and options of a new marketing tool to promote the region with the assistance of Tourism Wollongong and other government bodies.

The Northern Illawarra Chamber of Commerce is now gearing up for its November season of festivities that mark the achievements of Stanwell Park entity, Lawrence Hargrave. The northern coastal villages will once again be host to a number of fairs, festivals, art and wine evenings and its Annual Gala Ball to mention a few.

The 2007 Annual Ball, hosted by the Northern Illawarra Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Friday 9th November at the Panorama Restaurant Bulli Tops, and is open to everyone to attend. This year the Ball will have a very fun 60’s theme to commemorate the contributions that Lawrence Hargrave made to the world of aviation during the 1960’s.

Tickets are $85 and include buffet banquet, beverages and groovy entertainment.
