Northern Illawarra Chamber of Commerce (“NICC”)

Meeting opened: 7:35pm

Meeting was advised the Executive has set a Schedule of Events for the year. The Schedule is shown on the front page of the NICC website ( HYPERLINK "http://www.nicc.net.au" www.nicc.net.au). Significant upcoming meetings are: (i) April - Ms Jay Stricker, RTA; (ii) May – Mr Greg Binskin, Tourism Wollongong; and (iii) June - Mrs Sharon Bird, Federal Member. June meeting will be the launch of the new NICC logo and brand!!

NICC has a logo!! The logo will be used as a basis of a NICC brand and to extensively drive interaction between members and new membership. NICC is committed to use of the logo on letterhead and small decals / stickers on Membership Kits and Membership Packs and larger decals for display in shop windows and car windows.

Festival of Flight Ball will be held on Friday 10 Nov 2006. Organising Committee will be Barbara Allen, Robyn Venn, Tracey Noonan, Kayleen Prendergast and Lynda Starkey.

Meeting was advised a Community Meeting will be held at 7:00pm, Thursday 16 March 2006 at the Helensburgh Community Centre to discuss multi-storey commercial and residential development, permanent police presence and other issues for Helensburgh and environs.

Meeting was made aware of a written invitation from Mr Graham Chegwidden to fellow Helensburgh business proprietors to meet to discuss the formation of a separate Helensburgh Chamber of Commerce. Several NICC members will attend the meeting.

NICC currently has 54 members with Illawarra Credit Union our latest member. R&R Café has also committed to join.

Treasurer’s Report. Meeting was informed $5000 will be transferred to the general account to support current marketing, branding and Membership drive initiatives.

Presentation by Linda Marquis

Linda presented a draft copy of the Tourist Directory (Business Directory on one side and Tourist Map on the reverse side) for the Northern Illawarra. The map highlights the main roads in the major business communities and the Business Directory contains a listing of significant businesses and telephone numbers. The Tourist Directory will be distributed throughout interested businesses for tourists to take and use to find local services and products and places of interest. All NICC members will be highlighted.

Lind’s other project is the production of an “Art Trail” from Thirroul through to Stanwell Tops, funded by the RTA.

Linda encouraged NICC to participate in “Innovation Week”, 8-14 May, at Clifton School of Arts. This event is part of the Wollongong being “City of Innovation”. NICC will consider options.
